If we edit a jpg file from the media area, dato changes the extension from jpg to png, Isn’t it quite odd?

Can you please have a look into this? This is a critical blocking issue for us.
Sorry @rislam I know it’s not the best, but the image editor works that way. In any case if you fetch the image from Imgix you can always ask the JPG version of the image or the auto=format, which will provide the best format anyway.

For the web, it’s fine but Editors were a bit thoughtful for that change. And I think we can deal with the current implementation. Thanks
