when i build trigger does correct deploy to Vercel, on the DatoCMS side the spinner never stops.

This indicates a problem with the vercel integration, as vercel is probably not sending us back the hook indicating build failure or build completion.
Could you attempt to remove the vercel integration from the dato project, and re-do it to see if the problem is solved
