This seems like an important feature for any CMS that’s going to be serving flexible design needs.
The Modular Content should have an option to place it within the WYSIWYG flow.

I know I’m a party of one here, but this is a blocking issue for my company using Dato.
The current Modular content field is not ideal in terms of user-friendliness. We want to add a new type of field that allows records and uploads to be both linked dynamically and embedded within the flow of the text.
Content will be stored as structured JSON — something along the lines of Quill’s delta format — and we will provide helpers to make it easy to serialize it into HTML.
